A Deep Sea-Diving Cruise Ship~”Come Away!”

Inspired by a prophetic dream I had May 17, 2016

“Floating icy slush instead of sea foam?” I think to myself baffled.

I stand on a beach boardwalk among other tourists. With astonishment I inspect the strange phenomenon at the water’s edge.

It seems . . .  supernatural. This is no ordinary ocean! The regular rules of nature don’t apply here. I sense the water vibrating with life. It’s almost as if someone could just walk into it and something magical would happen. But as wondrous as it is, it’s the tip of the iceberg—for those who look on with me are merely at the shore’s edge.

The broad horizon before us–we all see it. There, the water is calm at its surface, but deep, mysterious and majestic beneath. Suddenly, all gasp; something surfaces—a MAMMOTH-SIZED cruise ship! Its nose comes up and out of the water like a whale coming up for air. All watch in terrified amazement at the awesome scene. The “beast” takes its time as more and more of its body reveals itself; it’s HUGE!

The whale of a ship frolics in the sun.  Soon, it will plunge back down with might. But before it does, it’s as if the gargantuan ship calls to those of us shore-bound ones.

With explosive joy it bellows, “COME AWAY!”

It’s an invitation to go with the LORD into uncharted deep waters!

Can you hear Him calling to you?

When most go on a journey, we plan to the ‘T’. We ask ourselves important questions. Where we will stay? What type of transportation? What to eat and when? How much money to spend? Who to visit and what sights to see? What places to avoid because of danger? When shall we return home?

But to say ‘yes’ to boarding the GARGANTUAN diving cruise ship, one has no say regarding such things. None. Instead, one must put on a sense of adventure, abandon the shore’s solid ground and give up control. The rider must completely trust the Captain’s itinerary. The journeyer assents to go where He goes! And it may not be a physical place we’re speaking of. It could relate to matters of the heart, mind and spirit.

In the dream, I see a church leader friend. He’s one of the boldest, most devoted followers of Jesus I know. I’m surprised to see he’s run back a ways; for terror fills his eyes because of his awe of the GARGANTUAN ship. However, a wall stops him from running any further. He dares to peek back at the cruise ship. I’m reminded of the Prophet Isaiah’s understandable reaction when he encountered the Lord of hosts.

From Isaiah 6 (The Message):

“I said, Doom! It’s Doomsday!     I’m as good as dead! Every word I’ve ever spoken is tainted—     blasphemous even! And the people I live with talk the same way,     using words that corrupt and desecrate. And here I’ve looked God in the face!     The King! God-of-the-Angel-Armies!”

Would not any of us respond this way when faced with pure holy greatness? I’d keel over!

Many of us love Jesus for all He’s unselfishly done. He submitted to His Father’s plans to be sacrificed on a cross for our sins. Not only does that open up safe passage into Heaven one day, it floods us with great opportunity NOW to know Father, Son and Spirit INTIMATELY. Therefore, we may greatly desire to go wherever He leads. However, the spirit can be willing, but the flesh weak (Mark 13:34). Therefore, a certain amount of grace from the Lord is much needed to go DEEPER. For the Prophet Isaiah, grace came when an angel-seraph touched the prophet’s lips with a live coal.

‘Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”  And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”’  Isaiah 6:6-8 (ESV)

You see, after grace came, Isaiah was ready to go deliver any and all of the Lord’s messages.

In my dream, the wall behind my Christian friend symbolized a sort of grace. In his state of being overwhelmed by the hugeness of God, the wall braced him. It also “blocked” him from running away. For I know this hardcore-Jesus-follower would desire to board the ship.

How about you and me? Certainly, we’re blessed by the beauty viewed from the stable Christian shores of our spiritual walk. But who wishes for the extraordinary–the “more” of God? A verse comes to mind from Jeremiah 33:3 (AMP)

‘Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you [and even show you] great and mighty things, [things which have been confined and hidden], which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish.’

IN CLOSING–We stand at the edge of this mystical sea. Some of us have ventured out a ways; and some more than others. But the DEEP DEEP! Do you hear the Lord calling to go further in? Even ALL the way in? Listen. Listen with the quietness you would if you held a sea shell to your ear.

Hear the whisper. Hear the roar. Spirit calls from Heaven to shore.

We love Him much. Do we want more? Hear Him knock at heart’s door,

“You, my Beloved, are My precious treasure.

Trust Me for a whale of an adventure!”

Come away!

*The day after I had this dream, I came upon this news story: “Unwrapped: The Largest Cruise Ship in the World, End-to-end Taller than the Eiffel Tower.” Wow!  The coincidence blew me away! I took it as confirmation to pursue the meaning contained in the dream.

Prophetic Dream: Terrorist Attacks on US College Campuses? And what to do BEFORE they happen!

I shuttered at the dream I had on June 10, 2015. It contained a theme of warning and strategic instruction from the Lord, regarding terror plots ISIS has for American soil. I cannot say how literal you should take the dream, but it’s filled with meaningful symbols which speak much. I’ve spent an entire year on this writing trying to discern its meaning. However, please discern for yourselves.

There are three parts to this writing. Parts I and II include the dream. Most of the interpretive focus is on Part II. Part III includes Spirit-led take-home points and a prophetic vision.

Job 33:15-18 (Complete Jewish Bible)

15 “In a dream, in a vision at night, when slumber falls upon people, as they sleep in their beds, 16 he opens people’s ears and seals the matter with a warning, 17 to turn a person away from his action and protect a man from pride, 18 so that he will keep himself away from the pit and from perishing by the sword.”

The DreamPART I:

The dream takes place on a US college campus–I’m with friend and fellow student, Meaghan. We sit at the top portion of our classroom. Class ends; it’s about 11PM. Before descending the stairs to exit, we linger to chat about her helping me find my parked white car. As we leave, the next class starts. A different professor begins his lecture. He reads a scripture from the New Testament. He shames us publically because he thinks we’re walking out on his class. He says something like, “That’s EXACTLY what this scripture is talking about.”

It has to do with people hearing the Word (God’s truth), shutting their ears and walking away.

Meaghan addresses the accusation matter-of-fact, “This ISN’T our class.” She’s absolutely right. We completed our class; there’s no need for us to be here.

Realizing the professor is in error, some students in his class begin to support us. “Yeah! The teacher’s missing the entire point!” they yell.

The scholar quickly defends himself. He says something like, “Well, we’re going to address ALL religions (in my class.)” He naively thinks this to be a good thing, for he believes all religions lead to one God. He begins to name many well-known religions.

(John 14:8– ‘Jesus said to him, “I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.’ AMP)

(*Note: I asked Meaghan for an interpretation. She writes, “I remember when you told us about your dream, we prayed afterward and I remember feeling emboldened to speak God’s truth, which is victory over evil! As I read it now, Part I seems to be about the school of Christ that we are disciples of. I think this discipleship speaks of others as well. It is a discipleship that is sealed with His blood. There is no need to be “schooled” by anything or anyone else for we have the Holy Spirit who is always teaching us.

There are false prophets who demand our attention and even belittle us as we ignore their teaching, wanting us to believe we are in the wrong or doubt the school of Christ that we already belong to. The only task we have in this scenario is to continue to “walk out of their classes.”)

The DreamPART II:

Meaghan and I exit. Outside sits a small wooden stand. It’s enclosed on all sides, except for the front. I walk in and see an upright map of the United States of America posted on a board. Christian friend, Jeff, is staring at the map; he’s horrified at what he sees. ISIS has come in the night and left their mark! With their own fingers they smeared human blood on certain areas of the map. Texas is outlined in blood. Also, a diagonal smear starting in the D.C. area and runs south-west; it stops, maybe halfway to Texas.

(*Note: Now that I’ve looked at an actual map in my awakened state, it seems like the smear STARTS in the Maine region, NOT D.C., and ends closer to D.C. So, I’m not certain which locations to go with as far as interpretation, if indeed it’s to be taken literally. However, my SENSE is to go with what I believed to be the starting point of the bloodstain in the dream—D.C.)

Instinctively, I know these are ISIS’s targeted areas. How brazen of them to come to a public place and flaunt their plans. This move reveals they are haughty, unafraid and blood-thirsty. They want to incite terror.

Jeff panics. He feels a weighty responsibility because he’s the FIRST to discover the threatening plans. He has no idea what to do.

(*Note: I believe Jeff represents the devoted followers of Jesus Christ—“the Church.” God may be revealing the devil’s desires to carry out evil through ISIS. God is giving the Church a “head’s up” so preventive action may be taken. In the dream scenario, the Church initially responds with fear and is largely unprepared to take action.)

Suddenly, wise friend, Judy, stands with us.

(*Note: I believe Judy represents the Holy Spirit who will counsel, console and advise Jeff (the Church.) John 14:16-17)

Judy (Holy Spirit) counsels, consoles and advises Jeff (the Church) regarding his (our) role in confronting ISIS.

Suddenly, just left of the map, a compartment in the wall opens. A US soldier in head-to-toe battle garb (he’s even wearing a gas mask) JUMPS out and runs STRONG into battle. He’s ready to address the enemy; he’s focused and fearless. I’m inspired! Immediately after him a SECOND soldier in the same battle gear emerges; it’s Jeff (the Church). He’s done whatever necessary to prepare himself. Now he’s bold and brave, too, and ready to fight FULL OUT, as God leads him in the power of Jesus.

End.

PART III: Understanding the Dream

The dream concerned me. I prayed with a few friends about it. During prayer, the Spirit made me realize I had a HUGE fear of ISIS—I believed the terrorizing group to be insurmountable. But a second thought hit me: I had it all backward! Against our Mighty God, there is no contest. The dark spiritual forces BEHIND ISIS are terrified of Him, His Son, Jesus, and the Spirit-empowered soldiers of Jesus. Oh, now I see!

I confessed and repented of worshipping fear; I put God back on His throne. Anyone relate?

Also, the Spirit revealed I entertained a VICTIM MINDSET. What I mean is this—instead of remembering that in Christ I’m a VICTOR, I believe I’ll be decimated if I (we) come against the murderous force, ISIS (whether with direct physical confrontation or through prayer.) The victim mindset is crippling and causes me to bury my head in the sand. Therefore, I end up taking zero action; I don’t even ask God if I have a part in the fight (See Ephesians 6:10-20 below). This losing mindset hinders me (us) from engaging my (our) victorious identity in Christ, as His strong, brave fully-equipped soldier(s). I miss an opportunity to partner with God in thwarting the plans of the enemy! It could save lives!

I believe God is speaking a strong message to many. We are not civilians; we are not reservists; we are on ACTIVE spiritual military duty. We’re being CALLED UP! We’re being called to WAKE UP! We’re being called to the WINNING TEAM! It is an EXCITING THING! (See 2 Tim 2:3-4 below) What a revelation!

I’m reawakened to the reality of Christ’s power BLAZING in and through little ol’ me. I am not helpless. I am FILLED with His power. WE are filled with His power! And we have full permission to appropriate that power for His great purposes. (See Luke 10:17-20 below.)

As my friends and I prayed, a sense of victory overcame me. I was amazed our contribution to the fight could be so simple. Our “grenades” were our quiet, yet powerful prayers! We didn’t have to stress or strain. We even had JOY!

Nehemiah 8:10, “And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

As I further contemplated the dream, a vision came to me. It was mighty and powerful. The crimson blood of Jesus—it swiped OVER the blood left on the map by the terrorists. Jesus’ holy blood “cancelled out” or blotted out the murderous blood. It signified to me that indeed, through prayer, among other things, enemy plans against the U.S. can be uncovered, dismantled and wiped out. They can be stopped.

Scriptures

Ephesians 6:10-20 (CJB)

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.

Luke 10:17-20 (CJB)

17 The seventy came back jubilant. “Lord,” they said, “with your power, even the demons submit to us!” 18 Yeshua(Jesus)  said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Remember, I have given you authority; so you can trample down snakes and scorpions, indeed, all the Enemy’s forces; and you will remain completely unharmed. 20 Nevertheless, don’t be glad that the spirits submit to you; be glad that your names have been recorded in heaven.”

2 Tim 2:3-4 (CJB)

Accept your share in suffering disgrace as a good soldier of the Messiah Yeshua. No soldier on duty gets involved with civilian affairs, since he has to please his commanding officer.

Dream: “Harry Potter Land vs. God’s Kingdom”

*Note: I’ve never read any of the Harry Potter books, nor have I seen the movies. Just to state that this is not an anti-Harry-Potter piece, but rather a pro-intimacy-with-God-and-Jesus one.

“Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?”  Exodus 15:11 (ESV)

“The (my) kids went CRAZY!” a favorite nurse enthused.

I easily imagined the scene she described–excitable children, young and old, running rampant at the new Universal Studios Harry-Potter-Land attraction. They waved around ridiculously overpriced, 40-dollar souvenir wands, as if training to be wizards.

Soon after, on the night of April 2, 2016, I had an interesting dream. In it, I found myself alone on a Harry-Potter-themed college campus. I inspected the tidy architecture of one of the buildings; it was a dorm. A sign at its entrance was engraved in a beautiful script. I felt like I was in some Scandinavian country of old. I sensed it to be the place where either the Harry Potter books were written or where the author had his or her origins.

This was a tourist attraction for those into Harry Potter. My family arrived to enjoy the place. However, I gazed longingly to the distance. Over an expanse of grassy fields and hills, lofty grey clouds hung low from an immense sky. Such peace and coolness they brought to the earth! It was truly a majestic scene.

My family wanted to scamper off to explore every nook-and-cranny of Harry Potter Land. But to my father, who stood next to me, I bemoaned, “But I just want to paint the clouds.”

He understood. He knew I was *unfascinated with running off to see “the best new thing” of wizardry, enchantment and magic. For the hill land leading AWAY from the wizardly world truly took my breath away. At the same time, it filled my lungs with fresh life-giving air. Beholding the eternal sky was as beholding the Lord.

However, I went with my family because I knew the kids wanted me to be with them.

He who has ears, let him hear.

Prayer–Oh, let not our hearts become bewitched by the fancies of the day. Not when there is YOU, God. The things of the earth are TEMPORAL; the things of You are ETERNAL. “Magic” entertains for a moment, but dissipates in a ‘poof’ of smoke. But Your MAJESTY remains forevermore.

Why shall I be bedazzled with “casting spells” by the power of darkness? Or “wave my wand” by the strength of my own flesh, to “make things happen” my way and in my timing. Not when I can simply ask my Heavenly Father and wait trustingly. For does He not promise to take good care of us? To provide what is best? (Philippians 4:4-6,17) Oh, that the young ones would know this through and through!

Truly, we may enter the intimate chambers of the King—to be face-to-face with our Heavenly Abba (Daddy) without facing wrath–for Jesus purchased us that right (Hebrews 1:3-4).

Oh, to BEHOLD and be smiled upon by the very AUTHOR of LOVE! (1 John 4:8)

And THAT is truly magic!

Scriptures to Ponder

Hebrews 1:3-4 (ESV) says, “He (Jesus) is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he (Jesus) sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high (Father God), 4 having become as much superior to angels as the name he (Jesus) has inherited is more excellent than theirs.”

Philippians 4:6-7 states, “6 Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. 7 And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].” (Amplified)

Phil 4:19–Moreover, my God will fill every need of yours according to his glorious wealth, in union with the Messiah Yeshua (Jesus). (CJB)

An interesting thing on the origins of the word “fascinate.”

*Fascinate–“1590- 1600; < Latin fascinātus, past participle of fascināre to bewitch, cast a spell on, verbal derivative of fascinum evil spell, bewitchment”  <http://www.dictionary.com/browse/fascinate, April 10, 2016>

Vision: A Little Owl Named Widsom

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.    James 1:5

A small brown and beige owl flew swiftly across my path. Its course as straight as a well-aimed dart. Oh, how I remember the precious creature’s eyes so wide with sight; like big black saucers, its pupils fully dilated to let in light. Its wings outstretched strong like a beautiful fringed cape fluttering with feathers ruffling in the wind!

Little owl has a name—WHO! WHO! WHO is she?

WISDOM—for even in darkness she sees and discerns clearly!

1 Kings 5:12— The Lord gave Solomon wisdom, just as he had promised him. There were peaceful relations between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty.

1 Kings 4:29—[ Solomon’s Wisdom ] God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore.

1 Kings 4:34— From all nations people came to listen to Solomon’s wisdom, sent by all the kings of the world, who had heard of his wisdom.

1 Kings 4:30— Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the people of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt.

A “Corny” Vision from God

December 17, 2015

The Apostle Paul prayed for the Ephesian church to receive a spirit of wisdom and revelation.

“ . . . In my prayers I keep asking 17 the God of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, the glorious Father, to give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you will have full knowledge of him.”        Ephesians 1:16-17 (CJB)

What does this mean exactly? Why doesn’t he just ask for wisdom and revelation? Are there actually spirits called wisdom and revelation? Does “spirit” refer to Holy Spirit who is known to give revelatory wise counsel? And if you’ve asked for these, how do you know when you’ve received them? And once you’ve received, do you have to continually ask for more?

Am I asking the right questions? Am I overanalyzing? Things that make you go ‘Hmmm?’  (Throwback, thank you very much!)

So, I asked the Spirit for understanding. Immediately a picture came to mind. It’s so ‘ah-ha’ awesome I had to share!

I saw a small randomly shaped thing, like a piece of light-colored tree bark. It had small unpopped kernels of corn embedded in it. Then, suddenly, they popped explosively and became fluffy white popcorn.

I understood the vision immediately. The bark is our mind. The embedded unpopped corn pieces are “kernels of truth” our minds hold. The sudden expansion from little, hard yellow kernel to big, fluffy, white popcorn signifies sudden expansion from a kernel of truth to the release into a greatly enlarged territory of understanding, wisdom and revelation.

How cool is that? Does it make you hungry for wisdom and revelation? I’ll never look at popcorn the same! Interestingly enough, I bought 48 individual bags of gourmet popcorn for the staff here at LVilla for Christmas! There’s Cheddar, Zebra, Carmel and Cinnamon Toast! Yum!

Why do wisdom and revelation matter?

Some truths to snack on . . .

Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint;  but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.  Proverbs 29:18 (NIV)

Where there is no vision [no revelation of God and His word], the people are unrestrained; But happy and blessed is he who keeps the law [of God].   Proverbs 29:18 (Amp)

16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you. In my prayers I keep asking 17 the God of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, the glorious Father, to give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you will have full knowledge of him. 18 I pray that he will give light to the eyes of your hearts, so that you will understand the hope to which he has called you, what rich glories there are in the inheritance he has promised his people, 19 and how surpassingly great is his power working in us who trust him. It works with the same mighty strength he used 20 when he worked in the Messiah to raise him from the dead and seat him at his right hand in heaven, 21 far above every ruler, authority, power, dominion or any other name that can be named either in the ‘olam hazeh or in the ‘olam haba. 22 Also, he has put all things under his feet[a] and made him head over everything for the Messianic Community, 23 which is his body, the full expression of him who fills all creation.   Ephesians 1:16-23 (CJB)

“The Strange Dance of a Worldly Woman”

This blog entry is inspired by a dream I had on September 22, 2015.

I was astounded—my essentially non-church-going friend suddenly got up and made her way to the very front of the congregation. She broke away from everyone—this woman whose past wouldn’t be considered racy by today’s standard’s at all; but by Biblical standards she was like the Samaritan woman at the well who had many husbands—the one whose sin was called out by Jesus.

13 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” 15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.”

16 Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” 17 The woman answered him, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband’; 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true.” 19 The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. John 4:13-19

My friend began to do a spontaneous, strange dance—strange in the sense that the moves were unusual, even for a modern type dance; they were unique and completely her own. At times they were on the “hip” side, reflecting the cool confidence I’ve always known her to have. At other times they were “odd,” like when she flung herself onto the ground face up; her back arching quickly up and down as if receiving CPR chest compressions.

“What the heck!” I thought to myself with skeptical eyebrow wrinkled.

“How weird! What on earth is she doing?”

But a second later I understood. “Ah! With her movement she gives testimony that God has brought her to LIFE!”

I continue to watch in amazement, as my friend danced oblivious to those around her. For someone had captivated all her attention and affection: the Lord! She’d always acknowledged God, and Jesus, but never had she been “in love” like this—simply awestruck! A miracle must have taken place; it was obvious her heart was theirs. And because of this, in her own unique way, she was giving sacred thanks. From the bottom of her being, and with all her heart, soul and strength, she worshipped!

Truly, she was a modern day version of another “female with a past,” whose story is told in the Bible. After the nameless woman broke into a dinner party given in honor of Jesus, she also presented Him with “strange” worship.

37 A woman who lived in that town, a sinner, who was aware that he was eating in the home of the Parush (Pharisee), brought an alabaster box of very expensive perfume, 38 stood behind Yeshua (Jesus) at his feet and wept until her tears began to wet his feet. Then she wiped his feet with her own hair, kissed his feet and poured the perfume on them. Luke 7:37-38 (CJB)

The host, Simon the Pharisee, was taken aback. From his reaction I conclude he didn’t welcome “her type.”

39 When the Parush (Pharisee) who had invited him saw what was going on, he said to himself, “If this man were really a prophet, he would have known who is touching him and what sort of woman she is, that she is a sinner.” Luke 7:39 (CJB) my emphasis

Nor did he recognize that the unique outpouring of her soul meant a great deal to Jesus.

44 Then, turning to the woman, he said to Shim’on (Simon), “Do you see this woman? I came into your house — you didn’t give me water for my feet, but this woman has washed my feet with her tears and dried them with her hair! 45 You didn’t give me a kiss; but from the time I arrived, this woman has not stopped kissing my feet! 46 You didn’t put oil on my head, but this woman poured perfume on my feet! 47 Because of this, I tell you that her sins — which are many! — have been forgiven, because she loved much. But someone who has been forgiven only a little loves only a little.” Luke 7:44-47 (CJB)

Like Simon, I wasn’t too sure about my friend’s strange offering; it was “weird”; it was “different.” Plus, I’d known her to be one way for so long—a “good person” who was a bit on the worldly side—my mind couldn’t understand her transformation. Had I written her off? But suddenly, person after person in the congregation sprinted down to join her full-out worship. I was in awe; she had inspired them to turn whole-heartedly to the Lord!
There was no reason to delay. “OK.” I assented. Then, I ran down and joined in the strange dance—the dance God loves!

30 and you are to love Adonai your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding and with all your strength.’ Mark 12:30 (CJB)

“My Last Dance” Dream

Dream from  Aug 10, 2015

I’m in theater dressing room getting ready for my very last dance performance. I’ll be dancing with three other younger girls (maybe in their teens). I speak to one of them. I tell her how excited I am to dance this last dance. In so many words, I express how I’m just going to have fun. I won’t focus on perfection or performance or whether or not I’m smiling because I’ll just let my joy flow.

The girl is serious-faced; she thinks I’m crazy. Usually when we perform, we’re focused on perfection. We force big smiles on our faces to please our critics and judges. Joy isn’t a part of the equation.

Now I’m backstage in the wings waiting to go on. I see Donna Dellaria, my dance instructor. Knowing it’s my very last dance, we embrace warmly and joyfully.

“This is the LAST time I dance with you, like THIS anyway.” I think I’m talking about how my disability will not allow me to dance any longer, at this level, after this night.

End.

Immediately, what comes to me is this—my dream has to do with me having a shorter life than most and possibly dying relatively sooner rather than later. I’m about to “dance” my last dance.

Yes, it is very sad. Of course it’s something I’ve contemplated for several years now—dying young—as health circumstances have forced me to. I’m certain many of you have, too. I’m sorry for any pain this has caused you; but it tells me of your generous love and concern for me. So, with tears in my eyes, I thank all you so much.

Perhaps, having this dream is one way the Lord is counseling me . . . readying me for my eternal future in the afterlife. It is a good thing, though sorrowful, too. I find the message in the dream also enlightens me that I have viable choices NOW that will affect my “quality of life” today and every day on this earth.

I can opt to focus on “perfection” and performing for others’ acceptance and positive critiques, as I live my remaining days, months and/or years. Or I can leave all that nonsense behind and just be supremely joyful, thankful and embrace what time I have left.

This song came to mind. I hope you listen to it. It’s beautiful and fits perfectly!
